Matthew BarnesMatthew

Matthew is one of our Chartered Physiotherapists, as well as our senior advanced sports therapist and personal trainer. Matthew began his career at the Barnes Sports Clinic aged seventeen and has since gained nearly a decade of experience in treating sports related injuries and providing premium quality personal training. He gained his qualifications with both the University of the West of England and Premier Training International, and is a member of both REPS and the Health and Care Professions Council.

Whilst completing his training at the University of the West of England, Matthew gained experience in a number of different clinical situations. In particular, he completed placements at all levels of study in musculoskeletal outpatient NHS departments, and also experienced placements in elderly rehabilitation, community-based physiotherapy and in the acute care setting at the Intensive Care unit at the Royal United Hospital in Bath.

As well as specialising in and treating sporting injuries Matthew has participated in many different sports in order to better understand the mindsets and experiences of the athletes that come to see him for treatment. Some of the sports Matthew has taken part in include rugby, soccer, tennis, clay shooting, fencing, judo, and amateur boxing. As a therapist Matt has covered Core level rugby matches for the Army.
