The gym has undergone an upgrade:

At Barnes Sports Clinic we believe passionately  in reinvestment and this can be seen by our steady stream of recent developments including a total refurbishment of the rehabilitation gymnasium offering a lighter and more modern and spacious environment in which to exercise and reach your physical goals.

Watson weight benches and stainless steel dumbbells

As well as structural development of the gym we have recently acquired new equipment, including a full set of custom built light and medium stainless steel Watson dumbbells and two brand new adjustable Watson weight benches. Watson dumbbells are considered to be amongst the best in the world. They are manufactured locally near the town of Frome and Barnes Sports Clinic is proud to support innovative British design in the selection of our equipment.

Technogym skillmill

Additionally we have purchased a technogym skillmill which is an advanced self powered treadmill meaning that you do the work (rather than a motor driving the belt as with traditional treadmill). This places greater emphasis on the propulsive muscles of the lower extremity and simulates natural running much more closely. The Skillmill also offers variable resistance meaning that you can undertake functional pushing exercises – perfect for simulating sled training and rugby scrumaging.

Technogym skillrun

Taking the concept of the Skillmill one step further is our state of the art Technogym Skillrun. The Skillrun is a very advanced type of treadmill which offers a myriad of different functions including regular belt running (as with a traditional treadmill) sled pushing simulation andparachute running simulation.

The Skillrun has a maximum incline of 25% (most treadmills stop at 15%) and a maximum decline of 3%. Additionally the Skillrun also has a large advanced screen which clearly displays your workout data and can be used for web browsing, facebook, youtube or television while you exercise. You can even watch various types of scenery go by on the screen as you run. The Skillrun is a superb clinical tool and can help us to assess your gait and running cadence.

Related FAQ: Can I use the gym by myself? Yes you can, but you must first have a full gym induction to ensure that you can safely use the equipment. This generally takes around 45 minutes.
